Emirates donates seats, amenity kits
MELBOURNE – Emirates Airline will support Australia’s bushfire relief initiatives by donating more than 100 international tickets and onboard products worth $500,000.
Emirates will provide the return flights from any point on its 101-city global network to immediate family members of those killed or severely injured by the bushfires and in need of assistance to return home to Melbourne, Victoria.
Up to two members can fly, and travel can take place until May 2009.
The Victorian Government’s Department of Human Services will administer the programme; people needing assistance will be assessed by the department on a needs basis.
Dubai-based Emirates will also donate 10 Business Class return tickets, valid for travel from Australia to Europe, to its sponsorship partners Collingwood Football Club, Emirates Western Force, Victorian Racing Club, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and Cricket Australia to be auctioned in order to raise funds.
Emirates has also dispatched 2,000 premium amenity kits to the Salvation Army in Victoria intended for victims of the fires and volunteer fire fighters.
