EU President urges US to open borders
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen called for the lifting of the ban on EU citizens travelling to the US. Pressure has been building on President Biden to lift the travel ban by business and travel industry groups, especially as most of Europe is allowing Americans to travel in the opposite direction.
The EU added the US. to its safe list earlier this summer and the UK now permits vaccinated Americans. The US has held back from opening its borders to Europeans due to the virtually global spread of the delta variant.
