Eurostar delays and cancellations set to continue

Friday, 15 Mar, 2019 0

Disruption is set to continue for Eurostar and Eurotunnel until early next week after French customs officials refused a new pay offer.

Workers have been staging industrial action over the last 11 days over pay and staffing.

Eurostar has warned customers that severe delays and cancellations are set to continue until at least Monday (March 18) and said it advised all Paris passengers not to travel unless absolutely necessary.

"All Eurostar trains are experiencing delays and long queues for journeys from Paris Nord and Lille Europe due to industrial action by French customs until March 18th, we therefore advise passengers not to travel unless absolutely necessary," it said.

"These delays impact our planned timetables and cause subsequent cancellations."

Four trains had been cancelled today (Friday) including the 07:37 from Paris Nord to London St Pancras, the 09:03 from Paris Nord to Ebbsfleet International and London St Pancras, the 14:37 from Paris Nord to Ashford International and London St Pancras and the 21:03 from Paris Nord to Ebbsfleet International and London St Pancras.

Trains have also been cancelled on Sunday and Monday.

Eurostar also apologised for not being able to respond to enquiries due to the high volume of queries received.

Meanwhile Eurotunnel warned Calais customers of congestion and told car passengers not to queue up with lorries, but said services were running as normal.
