Ex HAL boss joining Azamara as Executive Chairman
Former Holland America Line President Orlando Ashford is back in the industry.
He has been appointed as Executive Chairman of Azamara by new owners Sycamore Partners.
Ashford takes up the position on completion of the transaction to buy Azamara from Royal Caribbean Group.
That will happen sometime during Q1 2021.
"We are pleased for Orlando to take on this role as Azamara embarks on its next chapter supported by Sycamore Partners. Orlando brings significant leadership experience as well as specific expertise in the cruise and travel industry," said Stefan Kaluzny, Managing Director of Sycamore Partners.
Ashford left HAL during the early months of the pandemic last year after more than five years at the helm.
"I look forward to working with Orlando, who has equal passion for the cruise industry and the very special product Azamara offers," said Carol Cabezas, President, Azamara.
Azamara was just revealed as the new owners of the Pacific Princess which it purchased from Princess owner Carnival Corp..
It grows the Azamara fleet to four ships.
