A pilot fired by Cathay Pacific has admitted wearing his former employee uniform to bypass security at Honolulu airport.
Joshu Osmanski, 39, said he was dressed in full Cathay Pacific uniform and ID badge ‘so that I could cut the line and keep my shoes on while going through Honolulu airport security,’ during a US federal court hearing.
He has pleaded guilty and said he initially told Transportation Security Administration agents he was part of a Cathay Pacific flight crew on duty when passing through security screening.
Osmanski failed to return his flight crew uniform and security credentials, said assistant US attorney Tracy Hino.
The court heard that Osmanski was travelling on Delta Air Lines to the US mainland to begin pilot training with new employer Atlas Air.
Osmanski is charged with unlawfully entering the secure area of an airport and faces a maximum of 10 years in prison and a fine of up to US$250,000.
