Flight attendant attacked by unruly passenger with a ‘sharp object’
A Delta Air Lines passenger is facing criminal charges after injuring a flight attendant with a ‘sharp object.’
A ‘physical altercation’ took place on a flight just landed at New Orleans Louis Armstrong Airport.
Nelson Montgomery, 39, of New Orleans injured himself with the object and then ‘grabbed a flight attendant’ and injured her with it, local police said.
“She suffered two superficial lacerations and was later treated on the scene,” Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office said.
Montgomery was subdued with the help of other passengers and taken into custody.
He was charged with aggravated battery and disturbing the peace.
“Delta has zero tolerance for unruly passenger behavior on our aircraft and in our airports.” The airline said.
It is unclear how the altercation started or of if Montgomery’s injuries were self-inflicted.
Before being booked, Montgomery was taken to hospital to treat his injuries.
