Four Seasons Hotel and Residences Cartagena heralds an era of modern luxury

In a city that is continually transforming, Four Seasons Hotel and Residences Cartagena redefines history and modernity and brings the promise of what’s next blend seamlessly in an atmosphere of timeless elegance and elevated hospitality.

Welcoming a third Four Seasons in Colombia, alongside our Bogotá and Casa Medina Bogotá properties, our Cartagena property marks an important milestone in the continued expansion of our global portfolio,” says Rainer Stampfer, Four Seasons President, Global Operations, Hotels and Resorts. “In partnership with the ownership group, San Francisco Investments, and an inspiring team of creative and culinary visionaries, we are proud to introduce a Four Seasons experience defined by genuine care, thoughtful craftsmanship, and a deep connection to Cartagena’s unique character.

Ideally located in the vibrant Getsemaní neighborhood, with its many plazas, galleries, shops, and cafés, Four Seasons is just steps from the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Walled City, the famed Camellón de los Mártires, Parque Centenario across the street, and the modern convention center next door.

Our team is thrilled to share the city we proudly call home with guests from near and far,” says General Manager Annie Monnier. “Cartagena is an incredibly dynamic destination—alive with history, color, and culture—and we’ve curated bespoke experiences that reflect its vibrant spirit. With a deep love for the city, our team is dedicated to crafting thoughtful, personalized itineraries that celebrate what inspires you most.

A Story Told Through Art and Architecture

Following a years-long restoration and enhancement of a remarkable group of historic buildings, Four Seasons Hotel Cartagena presents a modern interpretation of the city’s rich heritage and global influences. Cartagena’s historic legacy and Caribbean spirit come to life through color palettes, materials, and textures at every turn.

At the heart of the project’s exceptional team of architects and designers is the late François Catroux, a French designer known for his effortless blend of elegance and comfort. This project—one of his few in hospitality—was among his final works, adding a beautiful chapter to his legacy, particularly in his vision for the former Club Cartagena, a 1920s landmark thoughtfully reimagined, as well as the hotel’s signature suites.

Numerous local artists and artisans contributed to the hotel’s character, including Alejandro Hernández (sculptural plaster reliefs), Eloin Rivera (large-scale landscape works), Miguel Cárdenas (in-room art), and Colombian designer Poli Mallarino (furniture and textiles).

Beyond the stunning lobby with its grand staircase and soaring glass atrium, guests can choose from 131 accommodations, including an exceptional collection of 27 colonial-style rooms and suites within heritage buildings. These rooms feature meticulously preserved architectural details, bespoke furnishings, and handcrafted elements that bring François Catroux’s vision—blending Spanish colonial character with contemporary elegance—to life.

A limited number of Private Residences by Rodriguez Valencia Arquitectos are also available within the hotel, offering a sophisticated lifestyle fully serviced by Four Seasons with seamless access to all amenities.

Dining, drinking and well-being at Four Seasons

With eight distinct restaurant and bar venues, Four Seasons Hotel Cartagena is a destination for food and drink lovers, from classic steakhouse to bars, a cafe, a pizzeria and an unavoidable roof top bar.

Located in a restored heritage building, Umari Spa offers a contemporary wellness experience in the tranquil setting of former cloisters. Inspired by the umari plant—associated locally with nourishment and spiritual growth—treatments incorporate Colombian botanicals and ancestral healing traditions. Facilities include six treatment rooms (including a couple’s suite), a hair and nail salon, relaxation lounge, steam room, and spa boutique.

A 24-hour fitness center features state-of-the-art equipment, personal training, and a regular schedule of yoga, stretching, and guided movement sessions. Two rooftop pools provide panoramic views of the city and harbor, while the walkable Getsemaní neighborhood invites exploration, with the concierge team ready to tailor experiences to every interest.

With a range of event spaces throughout the property, Four Seasons Hotel Cartagena is poised to become the city’s premier venue for business meetings, social gatherings, and weddings.

The centerpiece is the Ballroom de la Veracruz, accommodating up to 300 guests in a restored historic space featuring modern chandeliers, a dark vaulted ceiling, checkered flooring, and a raised stage area beneath a rediscovered centuries-old fresco.

The smaller Ballroom Centenario, named after the park across the street, offers natural light and views toward the Walled City’s clock tower, accommodating up to 100 guests. The LeLarge meeting room nearby provides flexible options for breakout sessions or private gatherings. Additional boardrooms and outdoor terraces offer ideal settings for meetings, welcome receptions, and private dinners.
