France drops 'scarlet' list advisory for a Mauritius

The Mauritius tourism industry breathed a sigh of relief as the French government agreed to remove Mauritius from its list of ‘scarlet’ high-risk destinations.

It came just days after it was placed on the scarlet list.

That led to an emergency meeting between Mauritius tourism and the French Ambassador, which ultimately proved successful.

"We wish to thank the French Ambassador, Her Excellency Florence Causse-Tissier, whose intervention was instrumental," the public/private tourism sector committee of Mauritius said.

"Following the announcement, travel to Mauritius from France is resumed for people vaccinated with an EMA-approved vaccine."

"Our priority remains the safety and security of our residents and visitors, so the rigorous arrival protocols related to Covid-19 remain in force."

All visitors to Mauritius are required to be vaccinated and must undergo PCR testing within 72 hours prior to travel, on arrival and in the following days.
