France launches EU’s first Covid certificate app
Framce is the first EU nation to launch its own Covid digital pass for travel. Initially, the app will be used to allow citizens to travel to and from France’s overseas territories. It will pilot the TousAntiCOVID app on flights from the mainland to Corsica.
The app uses QR codes to verify vaccine or test results and is currently available for use only by French citizens. The TousAntiCOVID app has already been downloaded by about 15 million people since it launched last year, primarily for contact tracing purposes.
Spain may soon follow after it announced its own green digital passport is almost ready to launch.
