Free Netflix streaming for Virgin America flyers

Wednesday, 30 September 20153 min read
Virgin America flyers now can now stream Netflix movies at 30,000 feet for free.
The airline has teamed up with Netflix to offer the service free on Airbus planes until March 2, 2016 for existing Netflix members.
The service is made available after Virgin rolled out its new ViaSat Wi-Fi system this week, which it says is 8-10 times faster than other in-flight Internet.
Netflix account holders have access to the full library of films and TV shows and new users can sign up for a 30-day free trial.
"Netflix and Virgin America are both known for their focus on innovation and for shaking up their respective industries – so we’re thrilled to team up to bring the best in technology and entertainment to the skies," Virgin America VP brand marketing Abby Lunardini said.
No details have yet been announced on costs once the free streaming period expres.
"As Wi-Fi becomes more ubiquitous, it’s going to be increasingly possible for members to enjoy Netflix wherever they want," said Bill Holmes, Netflix’s global head of business development.
"We’re delighted to partner with Virgin America to extend the joy of Netflix to our members."
