Thomas Cook’s Ian Ailles has been named as the new chairman of the Federation of Tour Operators (FTO).

Mr Ailles takes over from Martin Brackenbury who gives up the position after 17 years. The FTO was set up by tour operators in 1967 as a voice for the industry.

Mr Ailles is managing director, specialist businesses for Thomas Cook UK and Ireland, and looks after brands including Neilson, Style Holidays and Club 18-30. He was voted in on July 7. Previous to his current role at Thomas Cook he was group finance director.
