Galileo to provide text flight data
Updated flight information via mobile phone texts is to be made available by Galileo.
The GDS is launching Galileo AirText, offering flight data to travellers’ mobiles, including check-in, boarding, final call and real-time updates on delays and cancellations.
The system is targeted at business and leisure travel agents who book flights, providing commission opportunities for the agent and relevant content to the traveller, according to Galileo.
The system allows agents’ customers and nominated friends and relatives to receive updated flight information on their phones, delivered via mobile channels such as SMS.
The service can also be ‘white labelled’ so that Galileo agents will be able to individually brand information messages and visual elements of the service according to their specifications.
Galileo UK country manager Patrick Lukan said: “The customised service we have developed with Airtext Ltd has been based on feedback from our agents.”
AirText sales director Yannis Loucopoulos said: “We wanted to build a service that would fit seamlessly into existing sales processes and that would be flexible enough to adapt to the most specific agent requirement – we are confident that Galileo AirText answers that brief.”
