German bookings up for TUI
According to TUI, German holidaymakers are booking again, after being one of the nations slowest to recover from the travel slump due to a weakening economy, people fearful of losing their jobs being reluctant to spend money, the war in Iraq and SARS.
According to the company, bookings for TUI’s German brands are currently up 15% on last year.
Chairman of the TUI Deutschland GmbH Board, Dr Volker Böttcher said the success is down to a new pricing strategy, launched for this winter. The operator has also undergone significant price reductions and capacity cuts for Summer 2004.
Dr Böttcher said: “We are consistently pursuing our price strategy of lowering brochure prices and early-booking rewards for all sun and-beach holidays.”
As a result fo the new pricing strategy, TUI holidays will cost 8.5% less in Summer 2004, compared to the previous year.
In order to assure holidaymakers that quality remains stable, despite lowering prices, TUI has launched the “Tri Q” quality campaign, a quality control initiative.
Dr Böttcher sais the outlook for next Summer was good: “With a growth rate of 5% next summer, we want to expand and reinforce our position as the market leader.” He added that stable economic and geopolitical conditions were a prerequisite to any growth.
