The co-founder of Indian online travel firm Goibibo has left to take up a new executive role with its biggest rival MakeMyTrip.
Deepak Tuli, who was Goibibo’s COO, has been appointed as senior vice president, growth business at MakeMyTrip.
In his new role, Tuli will focus on fostering new partnerships and capturing new hotel business for MakeMyTrip.
"His rich experience, deep understanding and knowledge of the diverse aspects of the travel e-commerce ecosystem will be a valuable asset as we ready ourselves for the next phase of growth," said Rajesh Magow, India CEO of MakeMyTrip.
"Accommodations space in the country is growing at a fast pace and is a key focus area at MakeMyTrip."
Before joining Goibibo Tuli also helped launched travel site Yatra, where he was responsible for all non-airline business.
He has more than 10 years of experience in the Indian e-commerce market with extensive expertise in mobile platforms, digital marketing and product management.
"The e-commerce industry is growing rapidly in the country and the accommodations segment has emerged as a new area within the travel e-commerce ecosystem. My role at MakeMyTrip is exciting and challenging at the same time," Tuli said.
