Holiday stresses highlighted in Teletext survey
Over half of Brits don’t enjoy planning their holiday and 43% say they suffer pre-holiday tension.
These worrying statistics come from a survey of 2,000 people commissioned by Teletext.
It found on average Brits spend two weeks deciding on their holiday destination.
With the average length of a holiday nine days, this means they spend more time researching their trip than actually being away.
Once they have decided on their destination, Brits then spend a further:
– 13 hours researching their trip, accommodation and local area.
– 11 hours arranging transport and transfers
– 11 hours shopping for the perfect holiday wardrobe
– 9 hours washing and ironing
– 2 days cramming it into their luggage allowance.
The survey also found that 31% of Brits experience holiday tension in just not knowing where to start a holiday search, and 50% worry about finding a holiday they can afford.
According to Teletext, even when they’re on holiday the stress continues, with 32% people saying they feel stressed almost everyday while away from home.
The top three holiday pre-holiday tensions are:
– 22% work they’ve left behind
– 27% bad weather
– 27% flight delays and lost luggage
