Human error blamed for drownings

The sinking of a tourist boat in Vietnam, which killed 12 tourists, has been blamed on human error.

Police said a valve had been left open overnight and had allowed water to come into the boat during a tour of the Unesco World Heritage Site, Halong Bay.

A 30-year-old British tourist, Stuart McCormick from Irvine, Ayrshire, died along with 11 other holidaymakers and a Vietnamese guide.

The vessel’s captain and a crew member have been arrested.
