Global hotel group Hyatt plans to offer its guests the opportunity to stay overnight in one of Kyoto’s historic temples.
Guests at the Hyatt Regency Kyoto will have an option to stay in of five world famous temples in the city, including the World Heritage listed Tenryuji Temple, Nanzenji and Daitokuji.
A group of up to five guests will get exclusive use of the temple with dinner and breakfast included.
Guests can join in Zen meditation sessions and listen to lectures from templ priests about the respective history of each temple.
Rates range from 100,000 yen ($800) to 200,000 yen per night inclusive, Hyatt said.
Hyatt has been entrusted with management of the temples by the non-profit organisation Kyoto Culture Association.
Hyatt says it plans to start offering overnight temple stays next year.
