India may delay scheduled international flight restart
The emergence of the Omicron Covid variant could push back the restart of scheduled international flights from India. Flight resumption was due on December 15.
Official will review the timeline and may delay it or tighten testing for incoming flights. Prime Minister Modi ordered a review of the flight resumption.
‘Various preventive measures’ were discussed at a Home Ministry meeting. India has beefed up screening of all passengers arriving from countries where Omicron is present.
Currently, flights into India are operated under the air bubble arrangements with specific countries.
