Indian startup airline makes big Boeing Max order
Yet to launch India startup Akasa Air has ordered 72 Boeing 737 Max jets. Valued at nearly $9 billion at list prices, Mumbai-based Akasa will begin taking delivery of the planes starting mid-2022
It has ordered two models of the Boeing 737 Max family – the 737-8 and the 737-8-200.
Indian regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) recently allowed airlines to fly the Max, after nearly two and a half years being grounded in the country. Currently only SpiceJet operates Max planes in India.
