Inghams’ parent cancels all ski trips until April

Hotelplan UK has cancelled all Inghams, Ski Total ad Flexiski holidays until 2 April amid the ongoing Covid turmoil.
But Chief Executive Joe Ponte refused to write off the entire season, believing there was a ‘possibility’ that skiers could return to the slopes in April.
"We absolutely want to help skiers return to the mountains as soon as it is safe to do so, but as the Covid-19 crisis continues to worsen, we are facing the reality that it is sadly looking less and less likely," he said.
"We understand that many skiers are very keen to get skiing again this winter. With this in mind, while we think there is still a possibility that ski holidays could go ahead this season, we will continue to monitor the everchanging situation closely and keep our customers informed of any updates regarding the remainder of this winter, as soon as we can."
French authorities warned last week that the entire season is likely to be a write-off.
"We are looking at a saison blanche (a white season)," tourism minister Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne said.
"The term does not refer to the amount of snow, which has been copious this year, but that it will be a non-event."
Ponte said he hoped customers impacted by the new wave of cancellations will rebook, but said full refunds would be provided..
Hotelplan UK said its brands have sold 45% of next winter’s capacity ‘so people should think about their plans for the next winter now to avoid disappointment’.
