Japan extends entry ban for tourists

The Japanese government confirmed the entry ban on foreigner travellers is further extended until the end of February. Following the emergence of the highly transmissible Omicron variant, the government banned non-resident foreigners and required Japanese nationals and foreign residents to quarantine.
Prime Minister Fumio Kishida confirmed the extended restrictions last week. The government said it will likely grant business travel and student visitors first before reopening for general tourism.
