JetBlue shakes up the loyalty landscape

Wednesday, 19 March 20143 min read

JetBlue has thrown down the gauntlet to other airlines in an attempt to gain a larger slice of the frequent flyer market.

The carrier is offering automatic elite level in its TrueBlue Mosaic frequent flier program for customers who have an equivalent frequent flyer status with other airlines.

Mosaic is JetBlue’s highest rewards tier.

Mosaic membership will be offered direcly to members of the following programs:

Alaska Airlines: Mileage Plan MVP Gold or MVP Gold 75k
American Airlines: AAdvantage Platinum or Executive Platinum
Delta: SkyMiles Medallion Gold, Platinum or Diamond
Southwest: Rapid Rewards A-List Preferred or Companion Pass
United: MileagePlus Premier Gold, Platinum or Premier1K
US Airways: Dividend Miles Preferred Gold, Platinum or Chairman

Additionally, JetBlue has laid down a ‘challenge’ to all potential new customers, regardless of current frequent flyer status.

Flyers taking the ‘TrueBlue Mosaic Challenge’ can earn Mosaic membership if they can accrue 3,750 base points over the next 90 days.

JetBlue gives three points per dollar spent, so new members would need to buy tickets to the value of at least $1,250 within 90 days to qualify.

New York-based JetBlue is known for its discounted fares but it clearly sees great value in going after the lucrative frequent traveler segment.
