Lowest golf course on earth up to par
Golf may be regarded exclusively as a summer sport but not at the Furnace Creek Golf Course in Death Valley National Park where from October through May the temperatures range between highs of 92 and 76 Fahrenheit, tourism officials say.
“Because of its relative seclusion, the Furnace Creek Golf Course typically is played by overnight guests at the Inn at Furnace Creek or the Ranch at Furnace Creek,” says a news release, which adds that the course a 214 feet below sea level is the lowest in the world.
It was the first grass golf course in the California desert region built in 1927. Famous architect Perry Dye redesigned the course in 1997. Its fairways are lined with date palm trees and 60-year old tamarisk trees. The surrounding Panamint and Funeral Mountains can be seen from everywhere on the course.
There are several stay and play golf packages starting at $248 or $412 for two people based on double occupancy.
