Lufthansa 'unlikely' to buy Thomas Cook's Condor

Lufthansa has said it is unlikely to take over Thomas Cook Group’s Condor airline.

German media reports Lufthansa chief financial officer Ulrik Svensson does not believe a deal will go ahead.

He told investors in Frankfurt last week: "It is unlikely that we will receive the contract for Condor," adding integration into the Lufthansa subsidiary Eurowings would be ‘complex’.

Thomas Cook put its airlines including Condor for sale in February and Lufthansa confirmed at the beginning of May that it had submitted a non-binding offer for Condor, which it could also extend to the entire airlines of the Thomas Cook Group.
