Man boards airline without ticket or boarding pass

Saturday, 09 Nov, 2005 0

This is not the build up to a joke’s punchline: did you hear about the man who got on an airplane without a ticket or a boarding pass?

A New Jersey man did just that on an American Airlines flight from Newark to Fort Worth.

The man, identified as Danis Ballard, was found and taken off the flight before it took off after a headcount.

He had used a printed flight itinerary as a pass. He was charged with criminal trespass.

So who was at fault: the airline or the Transportation Security Administration (TSA)?

The carrier said the blame should be placed on the TSA. But the TSA countered that they were not responsible for matching passengers ID’s with boarding passes.
