Mandatory mask wearing back as Omicron fears intensify
PM Boris Johnson has ordered mandatory mask wearing again. Face coverings must be worn in shops and public transport again in England from Tuesday in efforts to contain the spread of new Covid variant, Omicron. The requirement to wear a face covering in England ended in July.
Some cases of the strain have already been detected. In addition, PCR tests are required again for everyone entering the country. The Prime Minister said the new restrictions are ‘temporary and precautionary’ and would be reviewed in three weeks.
