Campaign rocks on with a MASSIVE star-studded concert in Madrid
Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos joined leaders of the Spanish travel and tourism industry on June 1st to kick off MASSIVEGOOD’s second worldwide launch.
“The Spanish people will answer, there will be a massive response,” said Minister Moratinos at the high-level launch event at the Casa de America in Madrid. “Thanks to this ideal mechanism, with just one click, people can feel they are contributing to making a better world.”
Travelers in Spain can now “click” MASSIVEGOOD and give 2 euros towards a healthier world at virtually all traditional travel agencies in the country. At the same time, our Spanish website went live, inaugurated by a marvelous support video featuring Tour de France winner Alberto Contador, Soccer star Sergio Ramos and host of Spanish celebrities from all walks of life.
In addition to travel agencies, MASSIVEGOOD is also available on a variety of travel group websites: Atrapálo, Barceló Viajes, Rumbo and Viajes El Corte Inglés.
“The travel industry can be used in Spain as a channel for people to contribute to this great cause,” said Javier Solana, former EU Commissioner for the Common Foreign and Security Policy, also present at the event.
At the end of the event, all major Spanish Travel Agency Associations (AEDAVE, CEAVYT, UNAV, FEAAV, and) and the largest Consortia (Airmet, GEA and Travel Advisors Guild) signed declarations of support to MASSIVEGOOD. Befitting for a movement based on private-public partnerships, assembled representatives of the Spanish travel industry received a standing ovation.
Paul de Villiers, General Director of Amadeus Spain, who recalled that the travel industry accounts for more than eight percent of the labor force and generates more than 10% of GDP in Spain, highlighted the commitment of the Spanish tourism sector, which will “work to make the voluntary micro-donation a natural act for the millions of travelers worldwide.”
The technology behind MASSIVEGOOD – a donation solution that smoothly integrates into the travel-booking process – was created by Amadeus. Thanks to this easy-to-use technology,
MASSIVEGOOD is available through a wide range of partners throughout Spain and the USA.
“When I look at the impressive list of private partners who support us in Spain, I am convinced of the potential for success for MASSIVEGOOD,” said Bernard Salomé, Millennium Foundation Managing Director. "This is just the first part of our launch week in Spain. Up next – MASSIVEGOOD tomorrow at the Rock in Rio festival in Madrid, in front of 60,000 concert goers and on the same night as performances by Calle 13, Rihanna, Shakira and MASSIVEGOOD supporter DJ David Guetta!"
