Although tourism businesses on Maui have struggled more than most in the state of Hawaii, Maui’s mayor is pleading with airlines to reduce passenger capacity.
Mayor Michael Victorino met with airline officials to temporarily limit numbers as Maui’s tourism businesses are struggling to bring back enough workers to cope with a sudden influx of vacationers.
Traffic congestion and sheer weight of tourist numbers is affecting quality of life, said Maui County Councilmember Kelly King.
