Mauritius’ Beachcomber Trail returns for landmark 10th edition in 2026

As demand for nature-led running experiences continues to grow, with travelers increasingly seeking rural “runcations” and active travel adventures, Mauritius is once again preparing to showcase its spectacular landscapes. The Beachcomber Trail returns for its 10th edition on Saturday, July 25, 2026.

Since its launch, the event has attracted more than 1,000 participants annually, combining technical forest routes, beach sections, and breathtaking viewpoints to highlight the raw beauty of the island’s Wild South. Carefully mapped by passionate trail runners, the course takes participants through some of the region’s most remote and scenic terrain.

Trail Routes

Participants can choose from three race distances:

  • Case Noyale (65 km)

  • Usine d’Union (25 km)

  • Ruines de Savinia (10 km)

A major addition for 2026 is a new relay format for the flagship 65km race. Teams of three runners can now share the challenge, with each participant tackling a different section of the course:

  • Relay 1: Case Noyale – Alexandra Falls (17 km)

  • Relay 2: Alexandra Falls – Rochester Falls (15 km)

  • Relay 3: Rochester Falls – Shandrani Beachcomber (33 km)

All runners will finish together on the beach at Shandrani Beachcomber Resort & Spa, adding a celebratory atmosphere to the event.

Registration is now open at: https://roag.org/enter/event/4269

The 2026 edition will feature several standout athletes. Defending 65km champion Judicaël Sautron returns to defend his title, while women’s winner Amélie Huchet will also be back on the Sud Sauvage trails where she impressed in 2024.

Mauritius will be strongly represented by rising local talent Stephen Ash, while Rodrigues will be represented by experienced trail-running duo Claudia Fong Kye and Marie Roselina Thérèse. Both runners bring more than a decade of experience and community involvement to the sport.

In keeping with its long-standing respect for Mauritius’ pristine natural environment, the Beachcomber Trail 2026 is reinforcing its eco-responsible approach. Organizers have committed to eliminating disposable cups and single-use plastics, while promotional materials will be produced using biodegradable resources. Race markings will also be systematically removed after the event to minimize environmental impact.

The sustainability measures reflect the trail’s core philosophy: celebrating the island’s natural beauty while helping to preserve it for future generations.

Karine Perrier Curé, Chief Brand & Communication Officer at Beachcomber Resorts & Hotels, said: “More than just a race, the Beachcomber Trail is a shared adventure that has fostered a strong community of passionate runners. Over the years, many friendships have been formed along the trails, and the finish line has always been filled with emotion. This break has allowed us to rethink the event to return with an even more flexible edition, particularly with the relay format. We can’t wait to welcome runners back in 2026, with renewed energy.”
