NCV joins WMO to raise awareness about climate change

Norwegian Coastal Voyage (NCV), represented by GLP Worldwide Expedition Travel & Tours in Canada, has entered into an agreement with the United Nation’s World Meteorological Organization (WMO) to assist them in raising awareness of the effect human activities have on climatic changes and the resulting distribution of water resources.

Using on board experts who lecture and help lead shore excursions and an abundance of written materials, NCV educates their guests on the importance of safeguarding and promoting the wise use of the Earth’s resources while showing off the beauty and uniqueness of the scenery and wildlife.

“With Norwegian Coastal Voyage’s introduction of our new explorer ship MS Fram, built especially for use in Greenland beginning spring of 2007, and our expedition cruises in the Arctic and Antarctica, it is a natural step for NCV to support the work of the WMO,” says Gordon Dreger, vice-president of GLP Worldwide. “As a supplier of explorer cruises, we work in partnership with local authorities and environmental protection organizations that work actively to promote nature conservation and to prevent pollution, and we are always seeking new ways to improve our environmental involvement.”

International Polar Year 2007/2008 is an internationally coordinated campaign of research in both Polar Regions in order to educate the public and help train the next generation of engineers, scientists and leaders in the importance of these fragile environments. Norwegian Coastal Voyage, a leader in expedition cruising at both ends of the Earth, offers exploration cruises to these remote areas.
