Europcar Australasia, one of Australia’s most trusted and popular car rental companies has appointed Ron Santiago as its new Managing Director.
Ron assumed the position of Managing Director for Europcar’s Australian and New Zealand operations on Thursday June 19 and brings to the role more than 20 years of car rental management and sales experience.
Ron has broad experience in the international car hire industry after working in a number of managerial roles for high profile companies such as National Car Rental in Europe and Alamo Rent A Car – Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
Ron started his career with Alamo Rent A car in 1987 at Miami International Airport. From this early role his career progressed to key managerial positions across Europe culminating in the United Kingdom in 1998 as Operations Director Continental Europe for National Car Rental.
In January 2008 Ron was appointed to the role of Group Strategic Development and Business Services Director for Europcar UK where he contributed to the ongoing expansion of the brand, location network and IT systems development to support the growth of the business across the UK.
Ron will be drawing on his expertise in sales, operations, business management and IT experience to further develop the Europcar Australasia brand across Australia and New Zealand.
The car rental company’s latest senior appointment follows Europcar International’s acquisition of Europcar Australasia in May this year.
Mr Santiago said he was excited to be joining a company that offered good opportunities for growth and brand development in the future.
“I’m thrilled to be a part of the company’s Australasian team and recognise this role is critical for the company in terms of strengthening its market position and brand,†Ron said.
“I’m joining Europcar Australasia at a time when the company is looking to expand its product offering and maximise its market potential within the competitive car rental industry, which is an exciting phase to be a part of.â€
Ron arrived in Australia from the UK in June and has attended a number of company meetings prior to starting.
Ron assumes the position of Managing Director for Europcar Australasia following the recent departure of former Europcar Chief Executive Officer Josh Green.
