Norwegian Air to link Rome with three US cities

Thursday, 1 June 20173 min read

Norwegian Air has announced yet more transatlantic services from Europe.

The fast growing budget carrier will launch flights from Rome to Newark Liberty and Los Angeles in November and a third route to Oakland next February.

Fares for the routes are now live starting at $189 one way to Newark.

"Rome is one of the top tourist destinations in the world, and a favorite among Americans, so it was an obvious choice for us as we continue to expand our transatlantic presence," said Norwegian CCO Thomas Ramdahl.

As ever, the airline is touting the economic impact and job creation prospects of the new routes, in the face of opposition to its Norwegian Air International subsidiary from US airlines and flight crew unions.

"More U.S. routes mean we will create more American jobs and offer American travelers even more affordable fares," Ramdahl said.

Newark flights launch on November 9, following by LA two days later.

The Oakland flights will be the only route connecting the Bay Area with the Italian capital.

The airline also this week announced new routes to Guadeloupe and Martinique from TF Green Providence Airport.
