Norwegian hails strong January passenger traffic

Nordic carrier Norwegian kicked off the New Year with strong passenger traffic and sales.

It carried 1.1 million passengers with a load factor of 78% in January, traditionally the quietest time of the year.

It represents an increase of 78% from last year.

“We had close to full flights. Our New Year’s sales campaign resulted in more than one million sold seats,” said Geir Karlsen, CEO of Norwegian.

This year’s summer program comprises 300 routes to 114 destinations, including several new destinations.

In January, Norwegian operated an average of 62 aircraft and 99.5% of flights operated as per the schedule.

On time performance was, 85% in January.
