Off-season cruises booming
Off-season cruises are on the rise, Travel Counsellors says.
According to bookings made in January and February, spring and late winter cruises are gaining popularity.
Out of the 1,700 bookings for cruise holidays sold this year, 40% were for off-season cruises.
These are during February – May or between October – November.
Late cruise bookings for January to May have also increased by 54% compared to 2019.
Another takeaway from the data shows that 60% of all January to February cruise bookings included upgraded fares.
All-inclusive options include drinks, tips, Wi-Fi and excursions.
Using the in-house technology platform, Phenix, Travel Counsellors are also seeing an uplift in travellers wanting to re-package their cruise for longer stays.
Janet Whittingham, Head of Cruise, said: “We are seeing more customers taking control of their holiday spend.”
“They are looking to make savings by booking off-season.”
