Pattaya tourism reopening expected to be delayed
The planned reopening of Thai beach city Pattaya is set to be delayed. Pattaya Business and Tourism Association president Bun-anan Phatthanasin recently confirmed a delay is highly likely. The reopening was planned for October in line with Thailand’s other major tourism destinations.
It is unlikely to be met due to slower than expected vaccinations, the PBTA said. Pattaya needs to reach at least 70% vaccinated residents before reopening to inbound foreign travellers. It is thought to be currently less than half that.
