Pepper spray alert causes emergency landing
An American Airlines flight was forced to divert after a can of pepper spray was inadvertently let off in the cabin.
The New York bound flight which departed Miami diverted to Jacksonville Airport.
The airline called it a ‘disruptive incident involving a customer.’
The cabin was cleaned and ventilated before it took off again for New York LaGuardia.
According to one passenger, several passengers and flight crew were affected by the spray.
The FAA is investigating the incident.
This will also likely involve TSA screening at Miami.
Pepper spray is banned from carry-on bags.
