Pilot allegedly threatened to crash plane

A GoAir pilot has been accused by passengers of threatening to deliberately crash a plane during a heated confrontation.

The budget Indian airline denies the claim.

The incident arose after passengers became agitated over a delayed boarding of a flight to Bengaluru because the flight crew had turned up late.

When the pilots arrived, they were filmed by irate waiting passengers, one of whom said the footage would be posted online.

"One passenger went inside Airbus A320 and told other flyers that the pilot had threatened to crash the plane if the videos were put on social media," Times of India reported, citing an unnamed customer.

Three passengers then refused to fly and disembarked.

"GoAir strongly refutes any such allegation. After conducting due diligence and inquiry into the matter, we have ascertained that no such statement has been made by the captain and this has been corroborated by ground and on-board staff," a GoAir spokesman told TOI.

A passenger aboard the plane said the pilot apologised for the crew’s late arrival, blaming ‘administrative issues’.

The plane eventually took off nearly three hours late and landed safely in Bengaluru without incident.
