The federal Aviation Administration said it will investigate after two planes clipped wings at Newark Airport Tuesday evening.
United Airlines Flight 88 clipped the wing of an empty Lufthansa plane, a spokesman for the Port Authority said.
The United Boeing 777 jet had just landed after arriving from Beijing when it was struck by the Lufthansa Airbus jet, which was being towed.
Flight 88 was carrying 165 passengers and crew but no injuries were reported.
Both planes suffered some damage and the Boeing jet is still being inspected by technicians, United Airlines spokesperson Maddie King said.
It resulted in no delays at the airport but a FAA spokesperson said the agency will investigate.
