PortAventura World unveils two family attractions in July

PortAventura World is expanding its family entertainment offering this summer with two new attractions designed to appeal to visitors of all ages. The Spanish outdoor entertainment park near Barceona will debut Coral Bay, The Lost Legend at Caribe Aquatic Park on July 23 and Makamanu Jungle, The Adventure Trek in the Polynesia area of PortAventura Park on July 30.

The additions reinforce the park’s focus on immersive, shared family experiences and come as PortAventura continues to grow its portfolio of attractions.

Pirate-themed water adventure

Coral Bay, The Lost Legend is a new 6,000-square-meter family zone inspired by the story of a long-lost pirate cove that has re-emerged from beneath the sea. The attraction expands Caribe Aquatic Park following its strongest attendance year on record.

The new themed area combines water attractions, exploration and adventure around the remains of an ancient pirate hideaway.

Among the headline attractions is Cyclone, billed as the world’s second family water coaster and the first in Europe designed specifically for families. Other highlights include Pirate Bay, described as the world’s first multi-adventure pool, The Crab, a multi-slide tower featuring five different routes, and Splash Port, an interactive water play area created for younger children.

Guests will also find El Bucanero, a new food and beverage outlet, alongside shaded relaxation areas integrated into the underwater pirate theme.

Jungle adventure in Polynesia

The second addition, Makamanu Jungle, The Adventure Trek, transforms PortAventura Park’s Polynesia area into an outdoor family adventure surrounded by tropical vegetation.

The 135-meter attraction features elevated walkways, rope tunnels, suspension bridges and climbing structures built into the existing landscape. The experience recreates an ancient volcanic quarry hidden deep within the jungle while introducing a new direct connection between the Polynesia and Far West themed areas.

Designed for families and visitors with varying levels of adventure, the attraction includes 18 elevated treehouse-style cabins, 20 rope tunnels, three net ladders and four slides. At its center stands a four-story adventure tower offering different challenge levels suitable for a wide range of guests.

The area also includes accessible spaces for visitors with reduced mobility, while thrill-seekers can opt for a harnessed high ropes course offering a more challenging experience.

Throughout the attraction, guests will discover visual references to the original Makamanu show, paying tribute to one of the resort’s best-known entertainment experiences.

Strengthening the family vacation offering

Both attractions open this summer as part of PortAventura World’s continued investment in new guest experiences.

The outdoor park says Coral Bay and Makamanu Jungle are designed to surprise both first-time visitors and returning guests while reinforcing PortAventura World’s position as one of Southern Europe’s leading family vacation destinations.

PortAventura World has welcomed more than 100 million visits since opening more than 30 years ago. Located near Barcelona, the resort includes PortAventura Park, Ferrari Land and Caribe Aquatic Park, along with six on-site hotels, four managed off-site hotels, more than 3,300 guest rooms and a convention center with capacity for up to 6,000 delegates.
