P&O Cruises is in discussions over the possible sale of its oldest ship Artemis.
Managing director Carol Marlow confirmed that talks were being held with an un-named party about the vessel.
The sale of Artemis, the smallest of the company’s current fleet of six ships, was a possibility.
But Marlow stressed that “nothing has been finalised” and denied speculation that the ship had already been sold.
“We have interest in our ships quite regularly. We do have interest in Artemis,” she said.
Any deal for Artemis would not affect its existing sailing programme which covers cruises up until March 2011 including an 98-night extended voyage to Asia in January 2011.
Artemis, which specialises is special interest cruises, carries 1,200 passengers and originally entered service for Princess Cruises in 1984 as Royal Princess.
The 45,000-ton ship underwent a £10 million refurbishment and name change four years ago and operates adults-only cruises.
