Psst, Carnival, no new distribution system…yet
Heard about the Miami-based Carnival Corporation selling or changing its exclusive distribution system?
Think again, the company says, issuing this official statement:
“Carnival Corporation & plc has confirmed that it has held discussions with TUI AG (TUIGn.DE) and that those discussions are continuing. However, the nature of the discussions has been incorrectly reported by various German media as they do not involve exclusive distribution of any of Carnival’s cruise products.”
The company says its very successful AIDA brand, which serves the German market, is completely satisfied with its present distribution model and “appreciates the support that it receives from its travel agent partners.”
Carnival Corporation & plc is the largest cruise vacation group in the world, with a portfolio of cruise brands in North America, Europe and Australia, comprised of Carnival Cruise Lines, Holland America Line, Princess Cruises, Seabourn Cruise Line, Windstar Cruises, AIDA Cruises, Costa Cruises, Cunard Line, Ocean Village, P&O Cruises, Swan Hellenic, and P&O Cruises Australia.
Together, these brands operate 81 ships totaling approximately 144,000 lower berths with 17 new ships scheduled to enter service between March 2007 and spring 2010. Carnival Corporation & plc also operate tour companies in Alaska and the Canadian Yukon, Holland America Tours and Princess Tours.
Carnival official says it will have no further comments until a deal is made or falls through.
