Qatar Airways begins Medan flights

Qatar Airways recently landed its inaugural flight in Medan, Indonesia, becoming the third destination in the country.

The service to Kualanamu International Airport joins over 40 weekly flights to Jakarta and Bali.

It was welcomed in a special event which marked a successful completion of the Qatar-Indonesia 2023 Year of Culture.

The Year of Culture featured collaboration on more than 50 programs across both countries in arts and culture, tourism, education, and sports

Qatar Minister of State, H.E. Dr. Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al-Kawari, said: “The success of the Year of Culture laid the groundwork for the launch of the new Medan flights.”

“Indonesians can now unlock exciting new destinations.”

The new direct Doha-Medan flights are Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner with 22 Business Class seats and 232 Economy Class seats.

The city of Medan is the largest metro hub in North Sumatra and a gateway to tourist destinations such as Lake Toba.
