Qatar Airways Group chief stepping down
Long time Qatar Airways Group CEO Akbar Al Baker is set to step down next month.
After 27 years of service, Al Baker resigns his current position and will be replaced by Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer.
Al Meer is the chief executive of Doha Hamad International Airport.
During Al Baker’s helm, Qatar Airways has grown into a major force winning the “World’s Best Airline” award by Skytrax seven times.
Qatar Airways currently flies to more than 160 destinations worldwide, via its Doha hub.
He built a reputation as one of the most influential aviation leaders and sometimes one of the most outspoken.
Al Baker was appointed in 1997, just three years after the airline launched.
He steps down on 5 November.
