Red Sea next focus for Travel Foundation
ABTA Convention special report: Sustainable tourism charity The Travel Foundation is to focus on the Red Sea region of Egypt as its next project.
The foundation has chosen the region following feedback from its forum members.
A new film promoting sustainable travel and the charity’s work is to be unveiled at the convention on Sunday.
The film will be promoted in an email to more than 3,500 agents and will be produced as a 30-second consumer clip for companies to use in-flight or in agencies.
The Travel Foundation masterclass on Sunday will highlight how being a ‘sustainable travel specialist’ may help agents provide added value to customers.
Director Sue Hurdle said: “The frontline staff are our primary interface with customers so have an abolstely vital rle to play in helping consumers understand the issues and what can be done to help.
“The film features three compelling stories that illustrate sustainable tourism in action in a very upbeat and strightforward way, to bring what can sometimes be considered a rather too ‘worthy’ issue to life.
“We hope the film will really help agents to understand how important their role is in communicating with customers – and most of all to inspire and motivate them to help us make a world of difference.”
