‘Roaring’ time for $5,000 a night

Monday, 03 Feb, 2005 0

Winter rates: $5,000 a night. Summers are a bargain: Only $4,500 for the all-inclusive luxury plan, available for up to eight guests.

Those are basic rates at The Roaring Pavilion Villa & Spa in St. Ann’s Bay, Jamaica.

The costs have not deterred such well-known users as actor Jack Nicholson, who said the resort offered an “idyllic island rest.”

The Pavilion is a private, four-bedroom, plantation-style villa that was built in 1996.

Guests are waited on by a household staff that includes a majordomo, chef, butler, housekeepers trained by professionals from the Hotel Ritz in Paris, an assistant butler/beach attendant, spa therapist, laundress, gardener, maintenance technician and night watchman.

While the villa can accommodate up to eight people, it is often booked by families, groups of friends or even just one privacy-seeking couple.

For those with less to spend, there’s a summer European rate plan of $2,100 per night for up to eight guests.
