Royal Caribbean doubles down on Cuba cruises

Thursday, 05 Dec, 2017 0

Royal Caribbean is adding a second ship to sail Cuba cruises.

The 2,350-passenger Majesty of the Seas will join Empress of the Seas next year for regular sailings out of Florida.

The Majesty will sail to Cuba out of Tampa from April 2018 and is then redeployed to Fort Lauderdale in October to continue Cuba cruises through March 2019.

Empress of the Seas sails to the island from PortMiami.

Majesty will operate four- and five-night sailings to Havana which will include overnight port calls.

"Cruising remains the easiest way to visit Cuba, and with both Empress and Majesty sailing there in 2018 and 2019, we hope to make it that much easier for adventure seekers to experience the legendary island,: RCI CEO Michael Bayley said.

New calls at Santiago de Cuba and Cienfuegos have been added to Empress of the Seas itineraries ranging from four- to eight-night cruises.

These sailings also include calls in Nassau, Key West and Labadee, Haiti.

The additional ship announcement came after a summit took place last week between cruise line executives and Cuban officials in Havana.
