Ryanair is making good on its threat to axe flights in Spain.
It said it will end services to three Spanish airports and cut capacity at several others.
It follows a dispute with national airport operator AENA over increased airport charges deemed ‘excessive’ by the budget carrier.
It will scrap all flights to Vigo and Tenerife North and will shut down its Santiago base
“Ryanair remains committed to Spain, but we cannot justify continued investment in airports whose growth is being stymied by excessive and uncompetitive charges,” airline chief Eddie Wilson said.
Flights to Tenerife North will end at the start of the winter season and in Vigo by January 2026.
It is making significant capacity cuts to flights in Asturias, Santander and Zaragoza.
The airline says it will redirect capacity to airports in Italy, Morocco and Croatia
