Tuesday, 23 February 20163 min read

Ryanair has filed lawsuits in Los Angeles against unknown Twitter users who it claims have threatened to blow up some of its planes.

According to a report in the LA Daily News, one tweet threatened to commit a major terror attack in the UK.

It said: "hello Ryanair, you have 15 minutes before I commit the biggest terror attack the UK has even seen on one of your planes. Be ready."

Another tweet read: "I HAVE A BOMB ON YOUR PLANE RYANAIR."

Ryanair has filed an extortion suit in the Los Angeles Superior Court seeking unspecified compensatory and punitive damages against the Twitter users with the handles Stencill, Gunnexdog and FinestLands.

The suit also asks for an injunction demanding the tweets are removed.

A Ryanair spokesman said: "We don’t comment on pending legal cases."
