Sandals reopening next month with enhanced cleaning protocols

Sandals Resorts plans to reopen resorts across the Caribbean on June 4.

This includes Antigua, Barbados, Grenada, Jamaica, St. Lucia and Turks & Caicos, while Sandals Bahamas properties will return on July 1.

However it warns that these tentative dates may change depending on Covid-19 related border controls, travel restrictions or airport closures.

It is prepping all resorts ahead of reopening with enhanced ‘platinum protocols of cleanliness’ to offer peace of mind and meet new customer health and safety expectations for a post-Covid-19 world.

The wide-ranging new cleaning protocols include a triple-check system with a minimum of three inspections daily of hard surfaces, including door handles and interiors of vehicles used for airport transfers.

It will also encompass checks of public restrooms, which are being cleaned in 20-minute intervals, kitchens, bars and restaurants; swimming pools and hot tubs.

In guest rooms, enhancements include the use of hospital-grade disinfectants, electrical aerosol sprayers, and hand sanitizers.

"We will monitor and abide by the CDC recommendations concerning guest protocols at the time of the reopenings. To ensure guest safety and satisfaction, we will provide complimentary masks and gloves for all guests," the company said.

New social distancing measures are rolling out which will see more airport transfer vehicles used to limit the number of guests per trip, as well as safe social distancing at restaurants, bars and beaches.
