Singapore Airlines’ low cost unit Scoot has formally unveiled its first long haul route to Europe.
Scoot begins flying to Athens, Greece from June 20.
It will use Dreamliners on the route which flies four times a week.
"Athens will be our first destination to Europe, a good spot for us to expand our network," said Lee Lik Hsin CEO of Budget Aviation Holdings, the airline’s management company.
"The decision is in line with the group’s strategic move to stimulate passenger traffic between Asia Pacific and Europe, boosting connectivity through the Singapore hub. There is still room to grow. There will be further routes to connect Europe with Asia Pacific but not at major capitals, where competition is already keen."
The carrier has launched fares starting at US$360 in economy.
